One day before they left she came upon Angela sitting with Selena in the family room. Selena had become a favorite pet of hers and the feeling was mutual. What Krystal lacked as a mother Eliza more than made up for it and she was teaching Krystal to appreciate her own daughter. It wasn’t hard and at three Selena was a delight. Selena immediately came over for a hug and a kiss and a tickle. Eliza always got her to giggle. They had taken to eating dinner with the youngster to teach her some manners. Eliza didn’t know if it was an aristocratic thing but Selena seemed to know them instinctively and Krystal could be proud of her offspring. Eliza had also insisted on more time with the three of them and they could be seen evenings taking a walk together weather permitting on the grounds and in foul weather about the Chateau. As a result Krystal was closer than ever to her daughter and loved Eliza for re-introducing her to her daughter to a degree. Eliza loved having a daughter as she had never had one. Only having boys made for a different household.

“Hello Eliza” Angela greeted her warmly. She really liked this American that had come into their lives. She was so good to and for Krystal and it was obvious that Eliza loved her. “Come sit” she invited on the couch.

Sitting carefully since she was wearing a dress she talked briefly with Selena who soon was distracted by her toys. Eliza watched and the look in her eyes shone. Angela watched her.

“You love her don’t you?”

Eliza looked up in surprise. “Yes, of course I do, who wouldn’t. Krystal is very lucky to have her, she is wonderful.”

“Eliza, I want to say what a delightful addition you are to our family. I have never seen Krystal so happy.” She paused as Eliza’s face lit up in at the mention of Krystal and the compliment.

“She makes me very happy too” Eliza said gently as her eyes returned to Krystal’s daughter.

“You know when you marry Krystal that you will be a parent to Selena too?” she watched as Eliza watched the child.

the Sands Convention Centerla2Eliza’s head snapped up, she hadn’t really thought of it in quite that way. “I guess you’re right, I hadn’t really thought of having another child in my life until I become a grandparent and that is many years away.” She smiled. Her son’s as daddy’s?

“I look forward to meeting your son’s when they come over next month” Angela smiled. She had of course seen pictures, they were handsome young men, and Eliza had a right to be proud.

“Yes, but I’ve never had a daughter” she mused watching Selena play with her dolls.

That night she said to Krystal “I hadn’t thought about it but what should Selena call me once we are married?”

Krystal looked over in surprise “do you want her to call you Mutti?”

Eliza shook her head “no, you’re her mother, not me.”

“She comes to you just as much if not more often; I sometimes think she likes you better.
